School Policies and Code of Conduct

At Sorsogon National High School, we uphold policies that ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all. Our Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from every student, helping us maintain a community built on responsibility, integrity, and mutual respect.

General Conduct and Appearance

  • Students must be clean, neat, orderly, courteous, respectful, prompt, obedient, and industrious.
  • They must recognize and obey all teaching and non-teaching personnel.
  • Male students must have a proper haircut (at least one inch above the ear and three inches above the collar line). Earrings for males, fancy haircuts, tattoos, and dyed hair are discouraged.
  • While school uniforms are not strictly required, appropriate clothing is encouraged. Prohibited attire includes:
    • Sleeveless, see-through, backless, or crop-topped blouses.
    • Shorts, mini-skirts, and ripped jeans.
    • T-shirts with offensive prints, multiple earrings, and heavy make-up.
  • Students are required to attend flag ceremonies religiously.
  • The use of English or Filipino is encouraged at all times within the school premises.
  • Leaving the campus during class hours without permission from a teacher and the guard is strictly prohibited.

Prohibited Acts

  • Vandalism and Cleanliness: Students must maintain school cleanliness and use facilities (CRs, chairs, equipment) properly. Writing on walls or buildings is strictly prohibited.
  • Behavioral Prohibitions: Shouting, vulgar language, fighting, smoking, drinking liquor, using prohibited drugs, loitering, and making noise are banned.
  • Academic Dishonesty: Cheating and forging signatures or documents are subject to serious disciplinary action and may disqualify a student from honors.
  • Weapons: Possession of knives, ice picks, bladed instruments, guns, or explosives (matches, firecrackers) is strictly banned.
  • Unauthorized Groups: Joining fraternities, sororities, or gangs is prohibited; initiation rites (hazing) may result in expulsion.
  • Discrimination and Bullying: Discrimination based on gender, appearance, disability, or religion is highly discouraged. Bullying is punishable by law.

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Every student at Sorsogon National High School is entitled to specific rights and is expected to perform certain duties.

Rights include:

  • To be treated as a person with an identity.
  • To express ideas and opinions within the rules of courtesy.
  • To learn in a conducive atmosphere.
  • To participate in school-recognized organizations/clubs.
  • To express grievances through proper communication channels.
  • To receive equal protection under school policies.
  • To be informed of charges against them and have a fair hearing.
  • To publish a student newspaper and invite resource persons for school events.
  • To use school services and facilities with proper permission.
  • To be protected from danger while on campus.

Responsibilities include:

  • To know and abide by all school rules and regulations.
  • To exert maximum effort for personal potential development.
  • To promote peace and harmony inside and outside the campus.
  • To uphold the integrity and good name of the school.
  • To respect others regardless of status, gender, or religion.
  • To preserve school properties and exercise care in using them.
  • To maintain discipline during classes and assemblies.
  • To cooperate with parents, faculty, and administration to improve weaknesses.
  • To maintain cleanliness and orderliness of personal belongings on school premises.
  • To strictly observe the Student Code of Conduct.
